Open World

An open world setting would unlock a vast amount of options for Furious Seas and help bring the world to life. Allowing players to choose how they want to live their VR pirate life is very important to us.
We've already started laying down the foundation for an open world environment and will continue to expand on open world features in the coming months.
This post will be used to update users on our general progress for open world features. We welcome and encourage feedback so please leave any thoughts in the comments.
We may break out smaller open world features/components into separate posts, but will still update this primary post when that happens, so be sure to upvote this post if you'd like to be kept up-to-date on the latest developments.
Thank you to everyone for your feedback so far and guiding us to this point!

Currently just a relaxing sail through between missions, with passive enemy ships that become active once engaged. great to farm bit more gold between missions

Having a gameplay option to jump into the world in two modes
1) Free-roam: Just sail around at random as you tackle "variety of missions" such as trading, smuggling, escorts, and etc.... Even hang about on islands to then jump back onto boats. Everything would happen at random, but with quests to choose for an immersive experience. Ships would attack you and you can attack them that it's a rough world. Though, there should be a few friendlies whom would just sail by for variety and immersive sake.
2) Sandboxy: Similar to the above, but with conditions of what spawns, what is available, and how things play out. It would still be free-roam, but with special conditions.
If there's a better way the two could be merged. Whatever works, works.

There are alot of gameplay elements from Naval Action that would fit Furious Seas.

Seems like Battlewake is a carbon copy of Furious Seas, but with way worse graphics and a very unrealistic arcady style. Implementing an open world setting would make Furious Seas even more superior to that cheap copycat :)

Agree with FreeVR ! I had the sames thoughts. I love Elite Dangerous but I'm more Pirates than Ships :) It will be awesome !

This can become the Elite Dangerous of the Seas if you make an open world to travel, fight and make comerce.
